Pure Advance Flex Speed Limiter Guide

After spending around £800 on an electric scooter, it won’t be too much to ask if you expect to enjoy the thrill that comes with high speed.

Unfortunately, most Pure Electric scooters are capped at a maximum speed of 25 km/h to comply with local laws, and that also applies to their premium Pure Advance Flex.

If you own it and are interested in knowing how to remove the speed limiter, then know that it’s more complicated than you think.

Contrary to pieces of information online that you can cut a speed-limiting cable, the Advance Flex has none of that. Instead, it comes with an internal speed limit controlled by software.

This is to tell you that you will incur extra expenses if you want to make this e-scooter faster.

The Only Pure Advance Flex Speed Hack?

Swap Out The Electronic Components

Since the maximum speed of this scooter is internally regulated, your only choice is to do away with the stock components such as the Controller, Battery Management System, and throttle.

Unfortunately, all of these are outright pricy and as you purchase them, the total price of buying the bike plus the upgrades will end up costing you more than £1K.

Another problem is that the components might not even fit under the deck as you will require a bigger controller and BMS if more speeds are to be achieved.

We recommend going this route if you will be using such a modded e-scooter on your private land, the budget isn’t a problem, and you are electrically inclined should anything go wrong. Wrong wiring might lead to an electric scooter fire in the worst-case scenario.

What Should I Do If I Already Own The Pure Advance Flex?

Sell It And Upgrade

Instead of spending on other components and throwing out the stock ones, waiting for the new ones to get delivered to you, and taking several days to work on the upgrades, how about looking for someone interested in the ride and selling it off?

That way, you won’t have these risks:

  • Voiding your warranty should anything go wrong due to modifying your e-scooter
  • Risking an electric scooter fire hazard
  • Damaging the scooter completely should anything go wrong.

Since the local laws in the UK allow you to ride an e-scooter on your private land, you could upgrade and get a faster e-scooter. Most models send out faster e-scooters to the UK with a remote control that can restrict and derestrict speeds with a single button.

Get Used To It

Since the modding process is long and unnecessarily expensive, you can consider making yourself stay with the Pure Advance Flex electric scooter.

You can then save up and acquire another faster ride as the need to upgrade arises, especially if you would like to keep using it on private land.
