5 Reasons To Avoid The EMOVE Cruiser V2 Electric Scooter

While the EMOVE Cruiser has been a top-selling model ever since it was launched in 2017, I have always felt that there are several reasons to avoid it. 

Its rebirth, now referred to as the EMOVE Cruiser V2 had many anticipating better things for its $1500 price, but most have expressed their dissatisfaction with this electric ride. 

While I noted the numerous upgrades made (which are long overdue) such as the split rim design, LCD-colored display, and self-locking technology, I find these reasons worthy of checking deeper. 

The Upgared EMOVE Cruiser V2 Doesn’t Come With Full Hydraulic Brakes

Most EMOVE Cruiser owners of the V1 version complained about the XTECH X100 Brakes which notoriously became unreliable over time.

Sadly, EMOVE never bothered to include full hydraulic brakes in this model and instead maintained the hated semi-hydraulic Xtech brakes. 

Upon getting asked, this is what Voro Motors said, “Regarding the hydraulic brakes, we recognize the importance of reliability and effectiveness. On a production level, ensuring the hydraulic oil does not evaporate by the time it reaches the US is crucial. Given this and the specific performance requirements of a 33mph scooter, we currently find that full hydraulic brakes, though excellent, may not provide proportional benefits at this speed range.”

What Voro Motors and EMOVE don’t realize is that customers know what they want and these are flimsy reasons to cheap out on proper brakes. 

US customers have imported e-scooters featuring full-hydraulic brakes over and over again, and the issue of hydraulic oil evaporating doesn’t hold water. 

The reasons why we insist the EMOVE Cruiser should have full hydraulic brakes at that price point are that these offer the most superior stopping power, offer consistent performance regardless of the weather, and have a longer lifespan. 

Single Motor

Just like the EMOVE Cruiser V1 version, the V2 is also a single-motor e-scooter. 

We also recognize the fact that they said there is a dual-motor Cruiser on the pipeline. 

However, we believe that a single motor for this adult electric scooter isn’t a proper option for several reasons:

  • Due to its single motor, the Cruiser V2 has less torque and slower acceleration. If you wish to start your e-scooter fast, the Cruiser isn’t on that list due to its slow acceleration. How much does it suck when you trail in your group ride when others riding cheaper options leave you behind?
  • Single-motor scooters often struggle with steep inclines. They may not be able to maintain speed or even climb certain hills, which can limit their usability in hilly areas. You can see that the Cruiser V2 has a hill climbing ability of just 20° due to its single motor. 
  • If the motor fails, you will have to wait. Unlike dual-motor scooters that can run on the other motor when one fails, it’s the opposite should the Cruiser V2’s motor fail. 

The Cruiser V2 Is Heavier

One of the reasons why many used to purchase the EMOVE Cruiser V1 in droves was because it weighed only 52 lbs. 

However, the newly upgraded EMOVE Cruiser V2 now weighs a whopping 74 lbs. An increase of 22 lbs when the scooter doesn’t come with a bigger battery or motor is seriously disheartening!

One of the reasons why the V2 Cruiser is heavier is that EMOVE did away with the light foldable handlebars and instead went with thicker adjustable handlebars and a self-locking folding mechanism. 

Unavailability Of Spare Parts 

When you visit the Voro Motors website, you will find that most of the spare parts are out of stock. 

According to numerous complaints on social about customers who needed spare parts from the company, they had to wait for long before Voro would restock them. 

Depending on the extent of the damage and which spare part you need, it might take longer before you can start riding again. See, when a part is out of stock, Voro has to make the order with EMOVE. 

By the time that specific part gets shipped, several days or weeks might pass, which is undoubtedly disheartening. 

Again, there is no single spare part available for the EMOVE Cruiser V2 just yet on the Voro Motors site. I think they should have shipped all the parts along with these scooters. 

After all, some customers will need parts within weeks of owning the Cruiser, and it would be best if they had them readily available. 

Customer Service 

Voro Motors is the leading retailer selling EMOVE products, and unfortunately, many customers have had mixed feelings about their customer service. 

Others have complained on social that it took more than 3 weeks to be helped when they had an issue with their e-scooters. 

One of the customers who complained about taking their EMOVE Cruiser scooter for repairs in their Brooklyn six times received this response from Voro Motors after complaining, “We are sorry to hear that you find our servicing unsatisfactory to your needs, at this time you are still welcome to come in for repairs if you would like us to look into your scooter. Alternatively, if you wish to sell your scooter that is to your discretion.”

While you might still be interested in the upgraded EMOVE Cruiser V2, I highly recommend that you do your research about whether customer service improved or not. 

Are There Better EMOVE Cruiser V2 Alternatives?
