This E-bike Is Heavy

To begin with, the RadRunner 3 Plus electrically-assisted bike weighs 75.5 lbs with a battery and 67.9 lbs when the battery isn’t attached. 

By all measures of standards, this is a heavyweight for most adults who live on the upper floors of apartments. 

The bike’s heavy weight mostly limits portability and again, if you need to lift it onto a car rack, the extra weight can hinder portability. 

If you are on the heavier side, it’s also a problem when you pair up your weight and the RadRunner 3 Plus. In that case, there will be more power required to move around, thereby, leading to reduced range per charge. 

Feeble Kickstand

When you look at the lowest ratings about this e-bike on the Rad Power website, you will notice that most owners complain about the kickstand falling off during rides shortly after purchase. 

According to Robert who owns the RadRunner 3 Plus and had his kickstand broken and received a replacement, he says, “replacement kickstand does not fit chassis, no response from Rad on this.”

When the kickstand is weak, it means that it will break sooner and inconveniences such as tip-overs are common. You will also incur extra costs when you have to replace this part and you are out of Rad’s warranty. 

Frequent Display Error Codes

Many have complained that the RadRunner 3 Plus has several error codes in the slightest inconvenience. 

For example, Connor, who reviewed this e-bike 3 stars says, “So this bike didn’t have the power I was hoping for going up hills and going up hills puts such a strain on the bike that I got an error 21 and it keeps coming back so I had to ask for a new controller.”

According to Steve, “Still dealing with problems Error 30 in line it says it’s controller issue the Santa Barbara shop where I bought us not calling me back been 60 days have not been able to ride it yet.”

Loud Motor

This is an entire rating by Jordan, “There are a ton of great things to say about the bike, but the geared hub motor is unnecessarily loud and whiney. It wasn’t what I was expecting and in hindsight, I’d buy a different bike with a different motor. I realized I really prefer a quiet and zippy ride that doesn’t produce a lot of noise pollution on a bike trail or quiet county road.

There’s something specific to the gear hub motor that contributes to the loud noise. When turning the pedal assist all the way off, it sounds like a normal fat-tire bike ride.

The RadRunner 3 Plus Electric Bike Is Overpriced

Costing more than $2K, I honestly feel that this Rad Power e-bike is overpriced for the flaws it has. 

There are many different options out there today, and you would be better off going with the all-new Rad Power Radster models than the somewhat outdated RadRunner 3 Plus.
